You So Funny by BandWidth Magazine is returning for its second outing. This time around, instead of just an Open Mic session, the highlight for the event will be the appearance of two of Malaysia's best stand up comedians.
Here's the extract from YSF's Facebook Event Page:
It's BAAAAACK!!!!
YOU SO FUNNY is back in Kota Kinabalu and this time, we are bringing you way more laughter than ever. In conjunction with APRIL COMEDY BONANZA, BandWidth Magazine is flying the comical KAVIN JAY (host) and the star of the night PAPI ZAK.
There will be 2 sessions this time around:
SESSION 1: OPEN MIC
★ Interested Open Mic-ers, please contact Ana on how to register
★ Stand a chance to win RM300
SESSION 2: STAND UP COMEDY WITH PAPI ZAK
★ Papi Zak is definitely the “biggest” stand up comedian in Malaysia. Literally. Born in Egypt and raised in different countries, he is the true definition of a third culture child. Unafraid to tackle issues of race, sex, and Malaysian family values, his stories boil down to the most familiar, relatable experiences he’s had. He recently performed his critically acclaimed one-man show “Pillow Talk”. In 2007, he performed in “Eh, Got Free Ticket Ah?” with Malaysia’s premier stand up comedians Harith Iskander, Jit Murad and Douglas Lim. Papi made his return to The Actor’s Studio in 2009 with “I am Papi!” and this time he was the main attraction. He is a gut-grabbing performer who has no qualms about opening his mouth and letting all manner of things fly out. Papi Zak was also the host for Lite FM’s morning show “The Lite Breakfast with Zak & Sara” (extract from Comedy Kao Kao)
A LIL BIT ON OUR HOST ON THE NIGHT
★ KAVIN JAY has been voted the grumpiest comedian in Malaysia today for his love/hate relationship with his life, love and country. Born with a severe disability (being indian) he was always destined to be angry and easily irritated, putting that negative energy on the stage to positive effects. He complains about everything, so that you dont have to. Known in the underground scenes and open mike spots, he has since performed with international acts such as Dave Callan (Ire), Pierre Hollins (UK), Vir Das (IND) JJ Whitehead (Can), Chris Wainhouse (Aus), Rob Brown (AUS), Paul Ogata (US) and Steven Grant (UK) and countless Malaysian stand up comics (Extract from www.facebook.com/kavinjay)
