Latest Police Car in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Spotted this last week.. "Hey look, Robocop's in town" Hahaha.

I think this may be the future car design for the Police force in Sabah. Looks good, but I disagree on the car make and model. It's too slow.

How To Select All Friends On Facebook

Are you trying to invite all your friends on facebook to your event? Have troubles trying to find that invite all friends button? Well, you're stuck in a big hole on that one, because there isn't such button anymore.

There's a step however. Let me show you how. This also works for any other types of invites on facebook.

First, logon to your facebook account using Mozilla Firefox. Yes only Firefox (there are other ways if you're gonna use explorer or chrome, but this tutorial is just for firefox for now).

Then click on the event that you want to invite your friends to.

Hit, yes simultaneously SHIFT + CTRL + K on your keyboard. This will open up a box as shown on the picture below.

Next, click the Invite Friends button. Select “Search all friends” and scroll down (scroll to the very end of the list), so all your friends are loaded.

Finally paste the following codes on the space shown on the picture:

elms=document.getElementById('pop_content').getElementsByTagName('li');
for(var fid in elms){if(typeof elms[fid] === 'object'){elms[fid].click();}}

NOTE: If the code above does not work, use the following (as of 16 July 2012):
javascript:elms=document.getElementsByName("checkableitems[]");for (i=0;i<elms.length;i++){if (elms[i].type="checkbox" )elms[i].click()};

Hit enter. Depending on the speed of the connection and the amount of friedns you have, this may take a few minutes.

The code works when I last tried it 27th January 2012.

The Rise of Kota Kinabalu's Rapid Developments

If you're from Kota Kinabalu, you would know this already, Kota Kinabalu City is rapidly being over-developed. It's too fast, too quick, the people are too slow to comprehend what is happening, too many investors investing on the wrong sectors, it's like a gold rush without any gold to be found.

What is happening? Is the government spending too much money on Sabah? I doubt it. It's more like investors trying hard to be the quickest to hold on to a property entity in Kota Kinabalu. I understand that everyone in Malaysia thinks that Kota Kinabalu is the next big city in the country, but hold up. Being the next big city should mean better opportunities. Now let's see what opportunities there are in the city at the moment.

Shopping Malls - We have Centre Point Sabah, Wisma Merdeka, 1Borneo Hypermall, City Mall, Likas Square, Megalong Mall, Central Shopping Plaza, 1Place Shopping Mall, Suria Sabah Shopping Mall. Rapidly being developed, malls in and around Kota Kinabalu are plenty. What's not plenty is the fact that there isn't much retail outlet with a running retail business for the public. Why is that so? High property prices, that's why! How could someone charge RM5,000 per month for a ground floor outlet when they're only selling things like sandals or shoes or perhaps a boutique. On average, a retail outlet's overhead costs includes, workers' salary, electricity, products and rental. But with a rocket high rental price, and with the typical LOW levels of Sabahans spending power, how would a retail survive? Other means! That's how. Sometimes they resort to other businesses or online selling. To me, that way of life doesn't do justice to businesses. So again, what kinds of opportunities does these rapid over development give to Sabahans? Nil!

These investors aren't even stopping anytime soon. Just look at KK Times Square, they're already starting up their other phases. Do we need them? Yes! But should they be over charging rentals or lot sales? No! Should DBKK (Kota Kinabalu City Hall) interfere? Yes! Can they? No! What they could have done was to not approve certain developments within the city. Plan the city grid properly, not to give in to the federal government and investors just simply.

In other words, we're stuck with this for now. Over priced properties, Sabahans and their low spending culture, all of these will stay for some time (I'm predicting about 5 years more). Unless!!!!!

Unless, in the coming General Election, a new government in Sabah forms up. Sabah's an open book for now, but the book is messy, no matter how open it is. If things don't start to get fixed, we'll see more disasters in the near future.

The End of Days, according to humans, not God

There has been a lot of debate about the end of days especially when we're inside the year 2012, and by that I do mean the ever popular 21 December 2012 where some of these mindful, nothing to do humans tend to create buzz over something that is so fictitious and remarkably silly.

A lot of the stories about end of days in december 21 this year derives from the PAGAN race, the Mayans. Though there are also some that came about to their stories by prediction, well so they say. Let's look at some of the stories.

The most popular of them all is the Mayan myth. They have this calendar called the Long Count Calendar. This calendar doesn't work like the ones we know. The ones we know are the Chinese Calendar, the Lunar Calendar (Islamic), the Gregorian...should I say more? You get the point. Now getting on to the Long Count Calendar, the date 21st December 2012 is regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Long Count calendar. The question is, did the Mayans stopped writing the calendar or did they really think that the world would end on this date? Let's look at some historical facts about the Mayans. They think that their Gods made a few worlds, and that this one we're living in now is the fourth one, which the good one so far. The previous three worlds was crap apparently. Ok so this Long Count Calendar isn't really a calendar, it's more of a countdown clock, and guess what, the last day of the count falls on our calendar dated 21st December 2012. However, there isn't any significant fact of history that states that the Mayans thought that this was the end of the world. Other scholars (yes after research), suggests that it may be a celebration instead of doomsday. Another scholar says that the date might suggest "supposes changes in human consciousness", not the end of the world.

There's also speculations about some Galactic Alignment, which has been said to happen on the same date the Long Count Calendar ends. But this has been dismissed by almost everyone from NASA to Professors, pretty much everyone.

And then there's the POLE SHIFT THEORY.  Breakaway oceans and continents dump cities into the sea, thrust palm trees to the poles, and spawn earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and other disasters.
Scientists dismiss such drastic scenarios, but some researchers have speculated that a subtler shift could occur—for example, if the distribution of mass on or inside the planet changed radically, due to, say, the melting of ice caps.

This is my favourite one! The Planet X collision! Hah! Who comes up with these ideas. They should be making movies instead. According to some, a Planet will hit Earth. Sometimes referred to as Planet Nibiru, some lady who was convinced that she got a message from aliens that some planet was going to hit us. At first it was predicted for 2003, well since that has passed, now they say it's hitting us in 2012. Let's put it this way, even if some rock that was going to hit us, astronomers would have been studying it, and even if they're keeping it a secret from us, they've probably figured out a way to kill it off or prevent it from hitting Earth.

Moving on...now on Solar Storms. Heck we've been hearing this for a while now haven't we. Solar Storms would be a problem for us, in a minor way anyways. It will disrupt our communications for sure but doomsday? Way no! It's been said that our dearest Sun would reach it's cycle, blowing off some steam to us with some flares. But it's not happening in 2012 according to scientists. It'll only happen about a year or two after the end of days date.

Remember the Y2K end of the world hype? It didn't happen! But so many people made money out of it! Book publishers, websites, magazines, all these entities made so much money and I guess this 2012 theory is just another means of getting more money.

If anything, we should be checking out the bible's saying on the end of the world. The Bible does say God will use cosmic events as means of his judgement on earth before the final day of judgement. Revelation 16:21 speaks of catastrophic disasters like 50 kilo hailstones. Matthew 24:29 says, "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the SUN be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:"  But while the Bible speaks of judgment on earth before the ultimate "day of judgement", it also speaks of hope and describes very clearly how to escape the coming wrath. The bible never state that the world would come to its judgement on the 21st of December 2012. Let's have a look at Matthew 24:

1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying,
Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. 23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation [race] shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noe [Noah] were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of man cometh.

There is nothing in writing about 2012. Jesus said, only GOD knows when Judgement Day will happen. Till then, we should just be ready and live life like how he told to us live.

Snap Snap with Guba at TwtUpKK 2011

You might have heard about him, and if you have, you know that GUBA is Malaysia's latest singer songwriter who hails from Tuaran, Sabah. Signed under Laguna Music, I got him to come down during the recent TwtUpKK (29th December 2011) and made him sing a few songs. Gabriel Robert as his real name, he is really someone to look out for this year coz he told me that his album would be released sometime this year. Talented, good looks, great music, and a Sabahan, what more could you ask for. Oh and btw, he's already in the limelight in Kuala Lumpur, KK as usual a bit slow :p

3RD AVENUE AT PRACTICE

Kota Kinabalu's latest acoustic trio at work. 3RD AVENUE (Redz, Denise and Appy) during their practice session today. They're playing at Chingu Cafe & Bar at The Waterfront, so the push for the Korean songs is a must since Chingu is kinda like a Korean bar. They play every Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm to 11:30pm. Brought to all of you by Ingenio Talent Agency & Management.

Tips on Chingu Cafe & Bar - their Guiness Pint is cheapest during happy hours at The Waterfront.

Oh Kota Kinabalu!

When the heck did Kota Kinabalu got so EXPENSIVE?!?!?

Let's do a comparison with some of the other cities from the other states.

Kuching - A descent Roasted Chicken Rice RM3.00 on average
Ipoh - A descent Chicken Rice RM4.00 on average
Penang - Hainanese Chicken Rice RM4.00 on average
KOTA KINABALU - A DESCENT CHICKEN RICE COSTS RM5.50 or MORE!

Well, there's a chicken rrice shop at Centre Point Sabah where they sell them for RM2.80 per plate, but eating that is like eating your own shit frankly speaking.

I thought we were the most poorest state in the country? So why is it so darn expensive when it comes to buying things in Kota Kinabalu?

Can somebody please explain to me why!

Ridiculous

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy Chinese New Year 2012!

The season of late night chinese markets, firecrackers and noisy huge chinese drums are back. I am however, kinda not really feeling the festive season despite seeing people everywhere talking about it. But let's put my non-festive feelings aside for one moment and talk about the year of the dragon.

We all know that dragons are mythical creatures, and that there's the european types of dragons and then there's the chinese ones (where the Japanese, Koreans and other East Asians piggy back on the tradition as well). The european ones has bat-like wings whereas the Asian one is thought to be longish. They both can fly regardless of their sizes, haha. Ok, enough about that.

Now, let's move along. Let's talk about what I didn't manage to do. I didn't manage to get to the bank and grab additional ang pau red packets (the first time I got them I gave them to mom and dad), I did not get new wardrobes, I didn't manage to send Winkie to the groomers before the cny break and I haven't done anything for BandWidth Magazine's February issue yet, hah!

Well, I'm gonna stop writing now, and continue watching 'Forces of Nature'on TV3 and perhaps continue on with my latest downloaded Fringe episode.

New Semester at Sabah Institute of Arts

Last Monday was the first day back at DETECKE Sabah Institute of Arts for my lecturing duties, and boy it was tiring. This time around, I've been assigned with 3 subjects, Color Study 1& 2 as well as Dreamweaver, the latter with no problems, but the first 2. Gosh, Color Study? After going through the syllabus for Color Study 1 & 2, I found out that it was way too complicated for the diploma students I'm taking care of. Hence, it was time to re-do and enhance the syllabus. I managed to make them more real life friendly and even added some business flair to the lot. 10 students for Color Study 1, 25 students for Color Study 2 and 6 students for Dreamweaver. Yay!

Delicious Sabah Magazine and MG Magazines' logos are FINAL

Here you go folks, finally out are logos for the coming soon free to take food magazine for Sabah.

Friday The 13th With 3rd Avenue

It's that freaky date on Friday again, though this time, there's gonna be more good than bad happening. Oh and why am I still up? Insomnia's hitting me again.

Later today, I'm gonna be collecting a signed advert purchase agreement for BandWidth Magazine from Hyatt Regency Kinabalu and Ingenio's latest addition to its music family, 3RD AVENUE will be performing their very first show at Chingu Cafe & Bar right inside The Waterfront.

These 3 are Denise, Appy and Redz. In the hopes of getting these bunch recognised, I've been working my ass off in securing the performance space for them; was really hard but everything's working out fine for now.

Sickness Strikes

A virus took me by surprise a couple of days ago, and boy did it hit me hard. I was down right after my first day of classes at DETECKE Sabah Institute of Arts. Running 3 different classes throughout the whole day took a real toll on me I guess. I woke up Tuesday morning at about 4 or 5am and I was just shivering. Slept in for a few more hours and when I eventually woke up, I felt like shit. Slept in for a bit more and I forced myself to get up and dress up, as I had to pick up a cheque from one of the outlet I supply musicians to. Drove as quickly as I could and I went back on the bed. Got up later that night and I went straight to the doctors. The doc gave me an awesome antibiotics, it was just great, worked wonders. 1 tablet and the next morning I was feeling super. Now I know what to get whenever I get sick and I'm not sharing with you guys :p

Have an awesome day ahead....

Me Gusta to sign with Ingenio

Just to announce that Me Gusta will be signing with Ingenio real soon. Me Gusta came in as the Top Final 5 at BandWidth Magazine's 2011 The Ultimate Band Search. Focusing on indie, these boys are really good, so says me. I'll keep posting updates from the band.
